Ep 12 1) South Africa : MAD ELEPHANTS (DUR: 7’05) They’re mad, they’re bad … and they’re killers. It’s said that elephants never forget. Tourists are not likely to forget these elephants. At several game parks in Africa, authorities are reporting a spate of attacks by delinquent juveniles. At least one has proved fatal, when a mad group of juveniles attacked a car and ripped apart a German tourist. Experts believe the youngsters have turned bad because they’ve been moved from other game reserves, and away from the guidance of older adult elephants. 2) Israel : BIBLICAL LIONS (DUR: 6’44) Biblical stories and legends tell of one animal who instilled fear and terror in people throughout the Holy Land, the King of Beasts – the Biblical Lion. Believed to connect both the spiritual and physical worlds the lion was given special importance as the symbol for the tribe of Judah, the holiest city – Jerusalem and even the word of God. Few men like Samson and Daniel managed to defeat it and avoid death from it’s powerful jaws. Today the Lion has totally disappeared from Israel’s zoological map, apparently hunted to extinction by the end of the 12th century. But did Lions really roam the plains of the Holy Land? Jerusalem’s Biblical Zoo claims to have the direct descendants of these legendary creatures. Animal X went to investigate… 3) Australia : YOWIE (DUR: 10’05) The Yowie is said to be a towering two metre ape-like creature. More powerfully built than a human, the Yowie has a …

Everyone knows a dog is man’s best friend…. but what does it take to make us a puppy’s best pal? We’ll have the answers in this week’s Animal Allies “How To” segment. And in the UK, we’ll learn why this unusual animal is fast becoming a surprise hit in the English countryside. It’s the Alpaca… and customers are paying a fortune for its fabulous fleece.
